Komal Instructing

I’m a clinically active OB/GYN–geneticist and physician-executive with a career devoted to strengthening healthcare delivery ecosystems through design/implementation of human-centered innovation at scale, most recently as inaugural Chief Quality Officer for NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi/NCB and Medical Director of Sustainability for NYC Health + Hospitals. Nationally, I’ve served as an advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services through the AHRQ National Advisory Council (2022-25) & served as an Inaugural National Academy of Medicine Diagnostic Excellence Scholar. I’m also a Professor of OBGYN at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Research

Komal’s research interests include healthcare leadership, quality and equity, environmental sustainability, and simulation as a quality improvement technique.

Education

Komal attended Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her OB-GYN residency training at Northwestern University, followed by a fellowship in Medical Genetics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Komal received her Master’s in Health Professional Education from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions. She completed the GNYHA Clinical Quality Fellowship Program.
